Night Vision Mod is about as simple as a mod gets: one key binding and nothing else. That makes the key binding worth understanding. Here is where it lives, how to change it and what to do when it clashes with something else.
Where to find the binding
In game, open Options, then Controls, then Key Binds. Scroll to the Miscellaneous category. The entry is named Night Vision and is set to N by default. Both the Fabric and NeoForge builds register it in the same place.
How to rebind it
- Click the button next to Night Vision showing the current key.
- Press the key you want to use instead.
- Click Done. The change is saved with the rest of your controls.
Pick something you will not hit by accident. Keys near movement controls are easy to bump mid-fight, and toggling night vision at the wrong moment is more confusing than useful.
Spotting and fixing conflicts
Minecraft marks key bindings that share a key, usually by showing the key in red on the Key Binds screen. If another mod also uses N, one press may trigger both or only one of them. To fix it, move one of the two bindings to a free key. The Night Vision entry is the easier one to move, since nothing else depends on it.
Reading the status message
Every press shows a short message above the hotbar: Night Vision: ON in green or Night Vision: OFF in red. If you press the key and see no message at all, the press is not reaching the mod. Either the binding has been moved, a conflict is swallowing it, you are in a menu, or the mod did not load.
Why it sometimes starts off again
On Fabric the mod resets the toggle to off whenever the client loads a new level, such as joining a different world. That is by design in the source code, not a lost key binding. Press the key again. The NeoForge build does not include that reset. More causes are covered in the troubleshooting guide.
